LUMENYA is a sculptural practice artist, focused on large-scale works for public and institutional contexts. The works of Lumenya°Art engage with the spirit of society, the surrounding atmosphere, local traditions, and the intellectual or emotional energy of a place—its present condition as well as what it aspires to become. For this reason, sculptural concepts are developed exclusively through on-site presence and direct exchange with the people of the location, allowing each work to emerge as a lasting landmark within its specific context.
Fragments of Eternity is a large-scale sculptural project conceived for prominent public spaces.
The work consists of a glass sphere representing the Earth, engraved with continental forms.
At its core, a mechanically rotating hourglass marks the passage of time in a continuous 24-hour cycle. The sphere is supported by a human hand.
The sculpture is conceived with a sphere diameter of at least 5 meters and a hand measuring approximately 1.8 meters in height. The final dimensions can be adjusted up to the desired scale, in accordance with the installation location and the architectural and cultural context of the city.
The following images are preliminary visual studies exploring the sculpture in different contexts.
